What is Silica?

Silica, scientifically known as silicon dioxide (SiO2), is a chemical compound composed of one silicon atom and two oxygen atoms. It is the most abundant constituent of the Earth’s crust and occurs in various crystalline forms, such as quartz, tridymite, and cristobalite, as well as in amorphous forms. Silica is a key component of sand and is found naturally in many rocks and minerals.
